Cheap way to get from Middlesbrough to Newcastle Airport

My DM needs to get from Middlesbrough to Newcastle Airport on Sunday mornng, arriving at 7am. Usually she takes a train for around £5, but on Sunday there isn't a train this early. With such a tiny budget, are there other options? Taxi quoted us £60! Doesn't seem to be a bus that early either. Airport accommodation around £100.

TIA!

Taxi is probably your cheapest option. Unless you can get a lift.

Or a premier inn.

Taxi price is quite cheap at £60, we usually pay £75 to Newcastle or £90 to Leeds. The Britannia is a cheaper hotel sometimes, but not the nicest! Is there a B&B in Ponteland she could stay in and get a taxi in from there? (We’ve done this before and it’s only a £6 taxi)

I agree that the taxi price seems quite reasonable. Do either of you have Uber? You can usually get free/discounted fare on your first ride.
also maybe ask in local FB groups if anyone is making the same journey and would share?

@BippityBobbityBoo we don’t have Uber on Teesside 🤦🏽‍♀️ It’s a nuisance!

Thank you! The flight was cheap so will get the taxi!
