Spa hotel in northern England

Can anyone give me any suggestions for lovely spa hotels in the north of England? Anywhere between Derbyshire and the Scottish Borders. There are so many articles when I Google but most look like paid for reviews and it would be great to get some personal recommendations! I’m looking for somewhere really nice for a special birthday!

We love Swinton Park, but also heard really good things about rudding Park - they have a bigger spa but the food isn't as good. If you do go to Rudding Park, make sure you get access to the Spa Garden.

Swinton Park were featured in that Giles Coren hotel programme - may still be on Iplayer?

Its cottages rather than a hotel but I absolutely love this spa. Its in a gorgeous village with some nice pubs and restaurants.

I've never stayed, but been as a day guest a few times and it's very nice.

Rockliffe hotel near Darlington is lovely …. Amazing spa, great service, food and grounds….

Seaham Hall. 5 star, beautiful restaurant, very fancy and right on the beach.

I've been to Titanic a couple of times, food is decent too. Some of my friends also like Woodlands Spa near Burnley.

Lodore Falls is is gorgeous although Armathwaite Hall (mentioned upthread) is also lovely. I've been to both for spa days.

Devonshire Arms and Spa, Bolton Abbey. Just lovely

Rockliffe Hall is my favourite by miles.

Thank you to everyone for all of your suggestions. I've had a look through these places and they all look so lovely, I think I'm going to need more than one break!

Also Rudding Park near Harrogate. A beautiful place.

Matfen Hall or Walwick Hall both near Hexham (Northumberland) are lovely.
I think Matfen has recently had a major refurb.
