Cycle Trip with overnight stay?

We are looking for a cycle Trip we can do over 2 days. Cycling as a family - us and 2 children and one more on a trailgater. Tarka trail looks do able but we need somewhere to stay - in braunton doesn't look promising but perhaps Barnstaple. It needs to be low traffic to get there though

So we have widen our search. Any suggestions?

How far would you cycle in a day?

Tarka trail is 45 km approx I reckon we could do that but it would be a challenge and not much more.

Where are you in the UK?

There are lots of options, on and off-road, quiet and busy, but location saves me suggesting the Argyll way if you are in London...

why not park at Fremington and ride towards Torrington, and go on past to Petrockstowe looks the best place to get digs for the overnight
then the next days you have a down hill all the way back to Bideford and a promise of a play on the beach and ice cream at instow. It amazes me that Instow doesn't advertise for the tarka trail there is a great deli cafe called Johns, lovely cafe bars and a great beach and the famous ockings ice cream

By parking at Fremington you cut down the trail a bit, making it more manageable for the dc. Nothing worse than riding to far to put the dc off cycling.

A quick look at booking dot com and there are three bed and breakfast places at Peterockstowe.

I stayed in barnstable overnight a couple of years ago and found it really noisy
