Last minute South East booking in July

I'm thinking of winging it and booking a fortnight in early July quite last minute because of date uncertainty. It's for a couple and we aren't fussy where we go really. I'm not experienced at all in booking holidays. Am I being unrealistic? Will we struggle to find somewhere? It will start before the school holidays start which I'm hoping will work in our favour.

South East of where?

Sorry, South East of UK. Kent or Sussex

You should be able to find somewhere decent although you won't get any bargains, but I'd struggle to think of anywhere in the UK where I'd want to spend a fortnight (I love UK holidays but..) so you might want to move location in that time. If you've got two weeks why do you want to stick to a single small area?

Thank you, I need to not be too far from family members I look after. It's all a bit complicated.

Yes that makes sense.
A quick Google on Cottages.com (not the most glamorous of sites but it's enormous and easy to search) suggests that there are loads of lovely looking two-person cottages in Sussex available for a week starting from 28th April so there's a decent chance of you getting something in July if you wait until the last minute. If I were you I'd book two different places as far apart as reasonable possible to give you more choice. Rye is particularly lovely.

Thank you, yes Rye was one of the places I was looking at. Hopefully there will be somerhing left for us in July x

Lewes in Sussex is a lovely town to stay in! Has some nice shops and cafés!

Rye is near Camber sands, you could try and book a static caravan?
