Evenings in London with kids?

Taking my children to London for a few days next week, we've got plenty planned for day times but not sure if there's something that we could be doing in the evening?
Would have liked to have seen a show but decent seats are looking like costing over £300 for all of us so it's a bit out of budget!

You could look at theatres outside of the West End, prices will be much lower.

Take them out for dinner.

Leicester Square etc will still be busy/shops open in the evening and stuff going on.

Go and see a movie at the big IMAX.

If you're busy all day, maybe just an early night might be best though, depending on ages.

There’s a few twilight sightseeing bus tours which might be ok?

Download the TodayTix app. You get some great offers on there for West End shows.

Free street entertainment on southbank and Covent Garden , wander round grab Street food

How old are the DC, what sorts of things do they like, and when's bedtime?

The Thames Clipper runs until 9pm ish, so you could do a dusk trip along the river, and then perhaps wander back along the South Bank

See if any galleries or museums that interest you are are doing evening opening

If old enough Ripper tour or ghost walk

How old are they and what are their interests? Couple of ideas

Dr Who time fracture is an interactive theatre experience my 11yo DD enjoyed. Not west end quality but fun engaging and we paid £15 each.

Cecil Sharp House is lovely and do country dancing / ceilidhs super friendly

Chinatown and Soho at night just worth seeing, plenty of photos to be taken and played with

Have a great time

The keys ceremony at the Tower of London. Happens in the evening. Apply online. Completely free.

FloatingAlien · 06/04/2022 22:13

Posted this and forgot to come back and look at the responses, thanks for the suggestions so far!

Children are 8&11, they're pretty good with late nights so happy to be out and about until about 10ish.

I tried to get tickets for the ceremony of the keys but it was sold out until May! We are staying near the tower so would have been perfect!

I'm going to look into all the other suggestions now, sure we'll find something to do! Chinatown is especially appealing to me for one evening!

Sky garden early evening is great for the views over London

I was just going to say the same. Sky garden in the evening is lovely, if you are looking for somewhere to eat too book one of the restaurants and then you don't have to queue to get in. Close to the Tower of London too.
