Peak District: decent pub food?

Where would you eat in or around Castleton or Hope? Looking for a nice pub or fairly relaxed restaurant for lunch. No kids in tow (rare for us!!) so would like to make the most of it with a decent lunch.

Doesn’t have to be Castleton or Hope - somewhere like Hathersage would also be fine but that general neck of the woods would be good. Any suggestions welcome!

In Castleton we enjoyed the Bulls Head and Ye Old Nags Head but that was a few years ago.

In Hope the Cheshire Cheese Inn was great but also a few years ago.

In Hathersage the Plough Inn and The George - once again ages ago.

Not much use as it was so long ago that we went but hopefully will at least bump your thread so someone else can give you more up to date ideas.

Am very jealous, love the Peak District!

Nags Head was nice. But it’s been years since I last went

The packhorse hayfield is the best place that sort of way. Otherwise have a look at hyssop or Harvey Leonard’s in glossop c

The Fox House is lovely. It's a bit east of Hathersage

Second the Fox House Inn - lovely food and a nice setting.

If you could travel as far as Hayfield , the pack horse is great !

Thank you - will take a look at these! It’s so rare we get child-free time, we definitely want to make the most of it!

We had lunch in the Nags Head in Castleton the other week, it was really good. Excellent service and great food. I'd recommend.

The Blind Bull in Little Hucklow and The Barrel Inn are both lovely.

Thanks all - we ended up at the Nag’s Head and it was exactly what we were looking for.Smile
