Portsmouth historic docks & Tesco club card vouchers

We have saved up quite a few Tesco club card vouchers and were thinking of using them over Easter, maybe to go to Portsmouth historic docks

Has anyone got any reviews of the docks and whether it's worth it. It's for kids 15, 10 and 7

Also has anyone used Tesco club card vouchers to pay for it? I couldn't follow what the website said as it says we can only exchange the vouchers on site on the day we visit. But in another part of the website it says you need to pre book your slot.

So we obviously don't want to turn up and then not be able to actually go in as that would be a wasted journey Smile

I cant help you with the tesco club card as I haven't tried using mi vouchers ( i didnt even know I could ! )

But are the dock yards worth a visit ?
absolutely check the prices of the tickets out carefully as a they allow you into different areas .
Last year I went and wasnt sure which ticket to get but as I knew we would be there for the weekend and wanted to see the Mary Rose , victory , Warrior and explosion the first weekend it was open )
The year long ticket to all attractions was well worth the money .

The Harbour tour is about £10 each and is well worth it , you go out on a ww2 landing craft ( lands tanks etc off ships ) but you may get a bit wet (just spray not soaked )

To get to the explosion and submarine museum you need to use the water taxi which is only a few pounds . Dont try driving to them is feckin miles and hard to find !

I reckon you need two full days to see everything ( we went back 3 times ) so plan you days well , there is a cafe and loos on the main site and the explosion and loos at the sub but i dont think there is a cafe there.

A lot of areas are easy to access but by the very nature of some of the vessels there are steep steps and narrow passages .

Parking is available near the entrance on queen st ( i think thats the right mane ) at a NCP car park .
All of the staff and volunteers are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly

The dockyard is fab! We live in Southsea which is about 2 miles away and have been over the years with various visitors etc - things like the harbour tour are different every time and the Mary Rose, Warrior and the other ships are all very interesting. The submarines, across the bay in Gosport, are also fab - although if youre like me you will feel claustrophobic.

I think you will be fine just arriving and not prebooking - its a large site so its likely that you will be able to go to the different attractions over the course of your visit even if they are busy when you arrive. And if you are going in the holidays you will avoid the school trips which can cause the smaller attractions such as the Mary Rose to be come crowded.

The tickets are valid for 12 months so you can return in the future if you miss something
