Nice hotel recommendations please for an overnight stay treat for a couple.
Budget under £250 p/n.
Thinking ideally Cumbria or the Lake District, the NE or Scotland including but preferably no higher up than Glasgow or Edinburgh (as don’t want to travel to far for one night).
Want a large comfortable bed ideally King-size.
Nice breakfast and nice food for an evening meal either on site or within easy walking distance.

Thanks @Fivemoreminutes1 just looked at the Sunday offers for DBB. What type of room did you have please, where did you eat out at what did you do in the area and did you use the outdoor thermal spa and if so was their an extra charge for this do you know?
Sorry for all the questions bamboozled with all the room choices and just looked on Trip Adviser and reviews are extremely mixed. Saying hidden charges for the thermal pools but not mentioning what the charges are. Thanks

We ate in the Windermere Restaurant and stayed in the Hazel Lake View Room. I’ve just seen this www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk/news/19962891.low-wood-bay-resort-spa-announces-closure-gym-facilities/ which might have an impact on your stay unfortunately

Thank you. We were thinking towards the end of this month so they may well be on a wind down. On a nice day the outside thermal spa sounds absolutely lovely. Some of the reviews are raving and some are very uncomplimentary.

We had a brilliant time, but we’re not snobby nor especially fussy, unlike some of the other guests who were also staying there and who I imagine would turn their nose up at anything less than perfect.

Wordlewobble · 13/03/2022 20:32

Thanks five we aren’t snobby either. We don’t get many treats or nights away and just wanted it to be right. I keep finding places that look good then I read a couple of bad reviews then doubt myself and change my mind.

Black Horse Beamish. Especially this room type - big round copper bath for two. On site pub restaurant with very delicious food.

No spa/pool though!

That room at Beamish looks lovely but again a lot of really bad recent reviews on T/A.

Actually ignore my recommendation for the Laura Ashley Hotel, it appears to have deteriorated significantly judging by the reviews. I last went in 2027 and it was lovely then.
