Suggestion please for a long weekend in the UK (south/midlands)

Hi, i'm looking for suggestions please for a long weekend away in May for DH birthday.

We'd like to go somewhere within a 3 hour drive from London, ideally a nice city or something to do while we're there.

All suggestions welcome please
