Where to stay in Manchester for family friendly visit ?

Looking to book an air bnb but wonder what areas of Manchester might be better ? Or what areas to avoid? Want to be close to centre but not anywhere too noisy, that kind of thing.

It’s a pretty compact city centre and you can walk round it easily. I’d avoid areas close to the universities (mostly to the west / Oxford road area). Northern quarter or deansgate would probably be ok. Property reviews will be your best guide for noise.
