Permission from ex to holiday in Scotland?

I contacted my ex today to let him know my daughter and I would be going to Scotland to visit family.

We live in England and he has told me I cannot take my daughter to Scotland to see family without his permission? Is this true? Because if it is then he will never let me take my daughter to Scotland on holiday.

If anyone has any super helpful links I can send to him to say he's wrong I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm only planning to go for 5 nights. Booking return travel. I'm not going abroad.

He cannot prevent you going to Scotland, it's still in the U.K.

There's nothing he can do to stop you going to Scotland. Even if you wanted to go abroad, you can take your child for up to two weeks. If he denies you permission for abroad then take him to court and they will let you go. It's controlling and I wouldn't let him.

What's he going to do get border control to meet you before you enter Scotland. He sounds a complete tool.
