After some thoughts on this.... myself, hubby and kids (aged 6 , 4 and 6 months) are due to fly home during storm Eunice (think that's its name....) 65 mile winds.... we are flying from Inverness to brum and plane is about as big as a small bus with wings!! I think it'll terrify the kids (and me) hubby is adamant that if flight not cancelled we are on it! Alternatives ste a) 10 hour drive b) stay another 48 hours for next flight but £££££

Interested in what others would do??

They won’t fly if it isn’t safe to do so, so I’d probably hedge my bets on the flight being cancelled and rescheduled.

Travel Sickness pills and bands plus lots of reassurance that they only fly if it’s safe so even if it’s bumpy the pilot is very experienced. Okay down the storm - “ it’s a bit windy”

I would take the train but I'm a nervous flier who loves trains. Good luck

Did you get home safe OP?

They won't fly if it's not safe. I was once on a very windy landing into Brussels and my DC were ok with it. They were more worried about the woman a few rows in front having a panic attack.

I once flew in that tiny plane from Manchester to Inverness in high winds. It was pretty terrifying. We were buffeted around so much and a small child was screaming "we are all going to die!". I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel it in a storm.

Thanks for all the messages. The flight did get cancelled in the end! Hope you all stayed safe in the winds xx
