Suggestions for London

I'm meeting one of my oldest friends in London for the day in March. We definitely want to do something (not shopping) and have a good lunch somewhere.

I've not been to London since pre covid so does anyone have any suggestions for fun things to do (outside the usual galleries etc) and recommendations for a good place to eat (not a chain, interesting food, mid range price?)

Thames cruise or the London Eye? Hire bikes and cycle round the parks?
My recommendations for eating would be Circolo Popolare, Riding House Cafe or 14 Hills.

Daytime things to do in London that don't involve shops or museums/galleries? I'm stumped!

What are you interested in? Theatre matinee? Cinema, eg IMAX at Waterloo? Visit Arsenal's Emirates Stadium?

Personally I'd go to the Wallace Collection and then lunch at Ottolenghi in Marylebone Lane. (And then window shop along Marylebone High Street...)

If you're meeting near Kensington, Japan House usually has an interesting exhibition and has a restaurant (not that I've eaten there):

Or Dennis Severs's House in Spitalfields (only open Thurs/Fri evenings and daytime weekends) and Ottolenghi Spitalfields for lunch.

There must be a website somewhere for 'unusual things to do in London'.

The Shard. It costs but it's so much fun. Go up it and then either afternoon tea or a meal at the Chinese restaurant, or go over to Borough Market instead (not very relaxing or market like though.)

Another vote for the Dennis Severs House too.
