50th Birthday trip to London

Hi, I’m off to London in July with 3 girlfriends for a weekend of 50th Birthday celebrations.
We’ve got a hotel booked in Leicester Square, but I’d be grateful for ideas to make the weekend as special as possible for my friend. We don’t live near so when we get together there’s always lots of chatting / catching up. We love food, cocktails and a bit of culture. Thank you

Maybe a lunch deal at Gymkhana (Michelin star Indian)? It's decent value for money at lunch time.

Afternoon tea?

Trip to the V & A or Tate Modern?

We recently did the Crytal Maze Experience. Was absolutely brilliant and just like the show. Was such a great afternoon.

Cruise on the Thames with afternoon tea on the boat is nice.
There's an awful lot of history along the Thames.

There'a a thread around on best Afternoon Teas in London. How about that?

There’s a package you can get on the London Eye, where you can have a glass of Champagne. I did it for my 50th. It was a nice thing to do.

Lunch and breakfast at swanky restaurants are usually much cheaper than dinner. I took my Mum to Claridges for lunch for her 80th, and the set lunch was cheaper than afternoon tea.

If you want traditional, then maybe cocktails at the Ritz or the Savoy and maybe lunch or dinner at The Shard? Kerridges at the Corinthia hotel is lovely (if you're meat eaters!).

If you like Gin I suggest Mr Foggs Gin Parlour in Covent Garden.

If you have a generous food budget and want fine dining, I’d recommend Frog by Adam Handling and the downstairs cocktail bar. It’s v close to Covent Gdn.

Kricket, Barrafina, Corazon, Robata, Bancone, The Barbary - these places are a little upmarket but (in my opinion) fairly priced for London, great vibes, great food, and most do cocktails.

Hide is lovely for something quite special, they also have a great basement bar, but it is pricy.

St Martins Lane hotel have a really cool speakeasy style bar that does amazing cocktails.

Zedel is also lovely for a celebration.

We just saw Cabaret, it was a fantastic show and a great evening. It would make an amazing birthday treat. They've changed the theatre into the KitKat Club with tables etc. However it's stupidly expensive even though we got the early cheaper seats- so probably only worth it if you're really into musical theatre.

Ham Yard Hotel in soho is brilliant for lunch/dinner/cocktails. Just a few minutes walk from Piccadilly Circus.
