Day out in Cambridge on Thursday - recommendations?

We’ve got a day out in Cambridge on Thursday this week. There’s me, dh, dc aged 9 and 18. We plan to wander around the city looking at the university buildings and perhaps the Museum of Zoology…? Is that worth a look? Any other ideas?

Also, does anyone know what the walk is like from the train station to the city centre?

The walk is do-able.
The museum of zoology is a small place, very much within the university, and quite nice. The big museum is the Fitzwilliam - free but you need to pre-book. Kettle's Yard is nice.
If you can (Covid, plus out of term) try to visit some of the colleges. When we were there, it was easy to get into Downing, which is interesting if you like Jane Austen era architecture.
If you can (may be shut as is winter) go punting. Though it's not cheap.
With luck, the market will be open - lots of great food stalls.
Walk along the river. Nice streets, and you can see King's college etc from the outside.

That’s brilliant! Thank you so much. I did wonder which museum was better / bigger. It’s hard to tell from the websites.
