Maybe they know more than we do…. In 2020 we paid around £500 for four nights in a caravan. We booked early for the same slot in 2021 and got it for around the same, although they jacked up the price to £900 when they realised a lot of people would take UK holidays (and still sold out). It was on at around £900 but has been increased to £1100 today. How do they justify £275 a night for a caravan??? It’s not even high season. I daren’t look at the Center Parcs website…

It’s just supply & demand. They don’t know anything secret…there’s only 4 countries left in the entire world that you can travel to without the drama of restrictions, and that’s going to be down to 3 from next month. Most Brits used to go to Europe on holiday but who’s want to go there at the moment?!

Businesses are recouping the money they lost in lockdown and with high demand they can obviously charge more and fill the accommodation.
Costs have also gone up for bottled gas and maintenance so some of these will be passed on too.
For £275 you could get a hotel.

I no longer book direct as the prices are ridiculous now. I only ever use ukcaravans4hire.com. Would 100% recommend. Just buy entertainment passes if you need them when you get there. If we go for a week we buy the passes for the weekend usually.

I love that you can chose your specific caravan. I always found it a bit of a roll of dice with haven.

Sweet baby, I want to go to Europe too! I’ve booked a holiday in France earlier in the year, with the (probably unrealistic) hope that this has all died down.

Saleor, good point about the costs. I still think they’re raking it in and predict people won’t bother going abroad. I like the freedom of a caravan; a hotel won’t cut it for how we want to spend our time.
Yellow, I suppose I should have explored that option. We go with another family and to avoid caravan envy we get identical ones. 🙂

I would look at centre Parcs, you might be surprised! We haven't paid that much for a week at Easter.

1 of our dc gets 2 weeks in May. If the older ones missed the Friday of school and we went 3 nights we once paid £140..
They wonder why we do this but surely dc need a break that doesn't break out pocket?

Prices in school holidays are nuts. I work in a school but as we have a toddler I can take parental leave. So for our 2022 holiday I’m tacking a week on to the May half term and we’ve got a Monday-Friday Parkdean caravan break for £350. My time off is unpaid but we’ll save far more than I earn in a week by not going in the school holidays. I feel your pain, UK breaks used to be the budget option and now can cost more than a package abroad!
