London Christmas Lights

Hi everyone! We are planning a trip to London one Sunday early in December. My daughter is 14 and LOVES vintage shopping so I thought Brick Lane would be fun. However I also want to squeeze in some Christmas lights and a cozy lunch without dashing about like a mad thing all over town. Does anyone have any recommendations / suggestions for an itinerary that could work? Thanks so much!

Are you going by train? Which station will you be arriving at?

Good point! We'll be coming into London Bridge.

Best lights are Oxford and Regents Streets - obviously after 4pm so it’s dark.

It’s pretty busy with tourists but Covent Garden lights are lovely. Plenty of cafes and restaurants there you can sit and enjoy the views - you’d need to book ahead though. I’d go for Sushisamba. I’d much prefer there than the mess that is Oxford Street - the lights are nice but it’s hectic with shoppers at Xmas. Regent St the same. However worth looking around Liberty and looking ag the Selfridges Xmas display if you do head over there. In the same area - Carnaby St which your daughter might like (lots of younger brands have stores there) and they usually have nice lights.

Seven dials always have fab lights.

Thanks for the suggestions. We scooted past carnaby street on the way somewhere else a few weeks ago and the lights did look very cool. You're right that it also ticks the shopping box too! We could have a proper look rather than dashing past!

Will definitely look at booking if we are going to eat somewhere. Thanks for the recommendation!

THIS GIVES DETAILS OF 139 BUS
The article is from 2019 but gives a flavour of the route.

You want the one the hour snow flurry (don’t tell her it’s happening 12-7pm)

And the Sushi Samba near Liverpool St / which is on 40th floor glorious views across London from their ourdoor roof terrace with fire pit - near to Brick Lane. Bond Street has gorgeous lights.
