Weekend away for couple with very different interests!

I am hoping to treat my husband to a couple of nights away in January. He is very active and would like something where he/we can do something physical over the weekend. I am overweight, unfit and would much prefer a weekend of pampering! We both like good food and drink. Can anyone recommend anywhere in England, ideally within a couple of hours of London, where we can spend some time walking or being active some of the time, but also relax, eat good food and enjoy a bit of luxury?

I was going to suggest Centre Parcs so he could do activities and you could book into the spa but it doesn't really tick the good food requirement.

Oxford. Lots to see, good walks along the Isis, Cherwell or canal for as far as you want to go (and good pubs along most of them) The Malmaison in the old jail is really nice and there are loads of food options. Train from London so you can have a slow Sunday.

Or how about Wotton house spa/hotel. It's near Great walking in Leith hill, abinger common etc but it's also got all that spa/relaxing stuff going on. Not far from London and feels quite rural even though it's really just Surrey

The Oxford Belfry Spa Hotel is very good. There is lots to see and do there, you can take a leisurely dip in the onsite pool, have a nice massage, eat a lovely lunch in the dining room and leave feeling relaxed and happy too afterwards.

Recommended.

It is about a hour from here roughly speaking. We played a timed round of gin rummy whilst waiting for our turn to be pampered and treated like a queen. Or there is the aptly named Oxford Golf Hotel that is simply perfect for golf lovers of all abilities and ages. I recommend that hotel as well, but make sure to check out the reviews.
