If not Longleat then what?

We have been doing Longleat for the past few years as a Christmas tradition. I save Tesco points all year so it is almost free for two adults and one DC aged 9. There is no festival of lights this year and I am wondering if it is worth it/still fun for DC at around £100 for the 3 of us. What else can we do to get us in to Christmas spirit?

Probably wouldn't do the Santa train this year as feel DC has grown out of that although we do love the safari. I just think maybe we would feel a bit short changed this year without the lights plus there is maybe just so many times you can enjoy the jungle cruise etc.

Anywhere else with a similar Christmas vibe which we can try? Happy to travel up to 1.5 hours and live in the South West.

I’ve heard that stourhead is worth doing.

Just been to Westonbirt Arboretum, very nice indeed and a lot cheaper than longleat.

Following with interest, I think longleat are still doing something this year, it opens this Friday but not sure what it is.

Killerton (NT property) does Christmas well. They have an illuminated trail this year.

Killerton looks lovely but a bit too far probably. We are NT members though so good call to look up what they are doing.

Not Christmassy in particular, but there is soon to be a giant moon hanging up in Bath Abbey (which now has underfloor heating from the Roman baths):

I THINK the ice rink is returning to Royal Victoria Park near to Charlotte Street car park, but I imagine that this could be cancelled at short notice.
