I'm talking classic wintery rural retreat here. B&B or boutique hotel. Fabulous dinners in house. Roaring fire in a cosy lounge. Little bar with one or two other couples. Tweed and wood and wet, Country walks. Big, comfy beds. Middle of nowhere.

Long weekend. End Jan/early Feb. Any suggestions? (Will worry about budget later. Might even have a new job by then!)

The Killingworth Castle is a cosy pub with rooms. It’s just down the road from Blenheim Palace and you can get discounted entry staying there. The food is amazing and it has lots of lovely walks nearby www.thekillingworthcastle.com/walks-and-rides

Thanks for sharing, that place looks amazing and only 40 miles from me.

I'm on a short break in the Cotswolds at the moment and you can't move for falling over places like you describe. I'm staying in the most wonderful Airbnb place but if I told you about it I would have to kill you Wink
