Special occasion stay in Lincolnshire/Cambridgeshire

We are 8 family members planning to get together in May next year for a couple of days to celebrate the missed birthday/anniversary celebrations of recent years.

We would love a nice hotel, not fussed about a spa or other extras, preferably with a private dining room that we could book for one evening. A hotel and separate restaurant close by would also work.

Around Stamford, Peterborough, Ely, Cambridge would be ideal.
Any suggestions gratefully received, o wise ones?

Have just seen The William Cecil in Stamford and Belton Woods Hotel near Grantham if anyone knows either of those?

If you really want to push the boat out, The George in Stamford is lovely. Or there Hambleton Hall on Rutland Water near Oakham.

Not much help really but we stayed at the lodges (fabulous) at Belton Woods this summer so don't really know the hotel but we overheard people in the bar saying how nice their rooms were.
There is a lovely pub up the road too, a garden centre with restaurant next door and it's near a national Trust house and grounds.

The William Cecil is lovely but there was a wedding on when we stayed and it was very noisy.

YY to The George. Both of these are in Stamford so there will be other things to do other than look at Rutland Water.

The Varsity and the University Arms both nice. Friends recently stayed at the newly opened Fellows House and said it was lovely.
