Luxury Resort South Coast

Looking to take a short break in mid October (just me and DH) and thinking probably somewhere south; Dorset/Devon area.

Would like something along the lines of Potters in Norfolk but perhaps a little less 'Hi-De-Hi' and more upmarket (if that exists) So maybe has tennis courts, a swimming pool, some activities (?) etc and also in an area with some good restaurants that we can go out to. Would like to be near the coast too.

There seems to be lots of Spas, country clubs, Golf Hotels and as much as we need this break for some down time we aren't good at just sitting around doing nothing!

Any suggestions?

Thank you - Woolacoombe looks lovely, well they all do to be honest. I just worry that when they're attached to a golf course we might end up surrounded by men/women in plus fours and waving golf sticks around
