Hi Mumsnetters. Can I have some recommendations from you for a day out or overnight trip with a friend. What we want:

  • beams, fireplace, pub food, nice drinks
  • culture and/or country walks/national trust
  • countryside and relaxing
  • budget £150 each but would prefer cheaper so may just end up being a lunch out with sightseeing.

We plan to go in November time.

The Killingworth Castle near Blenheim Palace is lovely and cosy and it has a great selection of drinks. Definitely has a good choice of walks www.thekillingworthcastle.com/walks-and-rides

I’ve just remembered The Howard Arms right at the north of the Cotswolds. We stayed there when visiting Stratford Upon Avon. It has a nice big open fire and very comfortable rooms.

Ironbridge. Lovely Shropshire town, plenty to do, good restaurants and pubs.
