We haven't been away except to visit family since the start of the pandemic. DH and I want to book a few days in a UK holiday cottage in the October half-term.
I've never normally bothered with travel insurance for a UK short break but am wondering if it's possible to get insurance that just covers you if you get covid and so can't travel. DH and I are fully vaccinated but he works in a school and obviously we don't know what the next couple of months will be like. The cottage we want to stay in asks for the full cost if you cancel within 6 weeks of travel.
I'm reluctant to go for full travel insurance because I'm 50 and have a huge bundle of chronic health conditions so it's a total nightmare applying and seems like overkill for a few days. None of my health conditions are unpredictable or degenerative and they're not under any circumstances going to require cancellation or worse, so I don't want cover for them, but they make all sorts of forms and applications a massive PITA. Just wondered if there was an alternative.
