Hello we are traveling to mid Wales next week for a holiday and wondered if there was any recommendations for great places to go? Kids are 9, 6 and 3.
Thank you

The Elan Valley reservoirs are spectacular - and easy walking/cycling paths alongside them.

Red kite feeding at Bwlch Nant yr Arian, and I think they may be something similar at Rhayader.

Powis Castle in Welshpool . There is also a steam train in Welshpool that’s quite nice .

Ricekrispie22 · 22/08/2021 09:27

King Arthur’s Labyrinth and the Centre for Alternative Technology

MrsFin · 22/08/2021 09:42

Bala Lake is only just over an hour away.

Litgoals041 · 22/08/2021 09:45

These recommendations are brilliant thank you! We did have Powis Castle on the list as we have a National Trust membership.

Is the Silver Mountain Experience worth doing? and Dolaucothi Gold Mines?

A reasonable drive but Portmeirion.

I don't know about that for the age range of the kids - I went when I was young and hated it.

But I would love to go again now.

I had what was quite possibly the nicest sandwich I've ever had in The Lost Arc in Rhayader earlier this year.
