I would like to organise a day trip/activity to do with my best friend who’s getting married.

Something different to the usually spa etc.

Any ideas?

Thank you

What sort of things do you enjoy doing? There's bound to be something suitable!

I like to try new things. We are pretty much up for anything. Trekking, sight seeing, classes etc. Something fun and exciting!

Thank you for the suggestions so far!

Treasure trails are a good way to explore a new area.

There are a few riding stables in Yorkshire which do treks over the moors. www.yorkshiredales.org.uk/things-to-do/get-outdoors/horse-riding/

Ripon is nice for a day out too, as well as Whitby and the coast. Loads to do!!

Hardcastle Crags near Hebden Bridge (West Yorkshire) - great place for walking.

Thank you for the suggestions!
I will pass these onto her so she can choose.

Anything more girly that’s not spa related?

Lots to do in York, plus tea at Betty's. There are Betty's cafes also in Harrogate and Ilkley. Ilkley has a lovely riverside walk with other eateries along the way.

Haworth is well worth a visit. There's a lovely old cobbled high street with lots of independent shops (arty and new age stuff, clothes, jewellery), several cafes and pubs and Oakworth Station of The Railway Children fame, on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. It's where the Brontes lived so particularly worth a visit for a Bronte lovers.

The new RHS Bridgewater gardens in Salford/Manchester is a lovely day out, they have a coffee shop where you can book an afternoon tea too.

GameofPhones · 09/08/2021 09:30

There is a Bronte museum at their residence in Haworth, and other good things there as mentioned above.

bananainpjs · 09/08/2021 09:42

I’d love to visit Haworth but I’m presuming it’s not an all day visit? It’s a relatively small town?

If you walk from Haworth to Top Withins, which is said to have inspired Wuthering Heights it's about 7 or 8 miles round trip so probably about a 3 hour walk plus wandering around Haworth, parsonage museum, nice lunch and/or coffee and cake or cocktails or whatever so would fill a day.

BarbaraofSeville · 11/08/2021 04:47

People come from all over the world to do that walk, it's so popular in Japan, that the signposts are in Japanese as well as English.

Film yourselves singing and dancing like Kate Bush when you get to the top.
