Anyone had a holiday in Issue of Man?

I'm trying to book a holiday for me, DH and DS (16yrs) in October. I know lots of places booked solidly for next year or so but was wondering about Isle of Man. It wouldn't take us too long to get there but might feel a bit like going away properly. We would take 2 dogs and like walking / mountains/beaches / pub meals etc. I wondered if anyone had any experience of holidays there and any recommendations as haven't been able to find much on this so far. Thanks.

We've been a couple of times. Plenty to do and lots of variety in a relatively small area. Coast path is great for walking, some lovely beaches and two very different castles. We used the Ciccerone guide for walks, and the OS map covers the whole island!

I take it you've looked at this: www.visitisleofman.com/stay. I'll try and remember where we stayed.

Here's one www.knockaloebegfarm.com/. Don't know about dog friendliness though as it wasn't a factor for us.

Stayed here www.visitisleofman.com/stay/kionslieu-farm-cottages-p1289761 before we had kids!

Thank you very much Bluechampagne, that's really helpful (and I do like an excuse to buy a new OS map!)
