After so many great recommendations from here last year we had a fabulous time thought I would ask again.

Last year we did Benehana and Inamo and the Ivy loved them all.
Did the London eye / the dungeon / Madame Tussaud’s / Carnaby Street / Hyde park / Hard Rock Cafe / Buckingham Palace.

So far I have booked the sky garden and a show which is exciting as that was all closed last year.

Kids are 13 and 16 Thankyou

Would they enjoy a river trip, onto the O2 to climb up the sides or take the zipwire. If the show is in the West End you might enjoy browsing around Covent Garden, the Transport Museum, last time I was in the area they had a James bond exhibition on. From The Sky Garden you could get a bus into Shoreditch which is good fun to walk around, climb up The Monument.

Maybe try one of the food markets - great fun & our teen relatives love them - Spitalfields won't be far from where you are.

We like Blues Kitchen in Shoreditch for a southern vibe, it's good fun.

Go Boats on the Thames at Kingston (short train ride) - Hampton Court also in the vicinity
Walk in the Olympic Park
Hire Boris bikes and/or scooters (or walk!) and do the Jubilee path along the Thames between Tate Modern and London Eye

Some great ideas here Thankyou

You can eat outdoors in private pods along the river which looks great fun.

Dodge at Somerset House, drink and dine packages with vintage dodgems, have DJ evenings. You can pay £5 extra pp for unlimited rides.

Ride the Slide at The Orbit, follow up with a fun swim at the Olympic Pool and cycle or walk round the Olympic Park.

Thames Rockets RIB ride great for all ages! Combine with a visor to the graffiti tunnel at Leake Street. We ate at the Draughts Board Game cafe there and my teen still goes on about how she wants the fish and chips again.

Sky Garden isn't far from Tower Bridge, glass walkway is fun, then onto Borough Market for food. My teen loved the Liu Wei at White Cube Bermondsey which is free and not far. Or head to Tate Modern for modern art in an old power station.

I also thought the JR: Chronicles at Saatchi is good for teens, here's the reel from our visit www.instagram.com/reel/CQogaE2h_kO/?utm_medium=copy_link.

Hope this helps and let me know if you need any more suggestions!

Mine enjoyed Street Art tours - one of the ones we did started just outside Liverpool Street Station which is not far from the Sky Garden. Also, in that area I always like to take a walk through Leadenhall Market, it's very impressive - and if they are Harry Potter fans you can find the blue door which is the entrance to the Leaky Cauldron.

Tiramumsu · 06/08/2021 23:09

We've just done virtual reality gaming, probably not my first choice of activity but it was actually good fun. You can also buy cocktails after. www.other.world/

Oooooo, Tiramumsu has just reminded me about Bounce Ping Pong. We really enjoyed that. It's near Holbourn and seems to be an adult only place at night but more of a family friendly place during the day. They have a game called Wonderball which is good and a London 2012 Olympic table.

For food places like box park, flat iron square & vinegar yard have a house selection of a bit of everything.
Portobello road & Camden if the kids like shopping/markets that are a bit different.
The Van Gogh live thing in Kensington palace gardens.
My favourite proper tourist place is the Tower of London

mamaduckbone · 07/08/2021 22:23

You can't go wrong with the South Bank for a day - Tate modern, the Globe, watch the skaters, food market at the weekends, Wahaca in shipping containers looks great although we haven't eaten there. If you head towards Tower Bridge you pass the Golden Hinde and get to Borough market, and there's HMS Belfast too a bit further along if they're into that kind of thing.

ArabellaPilkington · 11/08/2021 13:59

Seven Dials area is lovely - big undercover food market on one of the streets down there, loads of nice bars and restaurants around there, plus chichi shops.

stirling · 12/08/2021 15:57

There are so many good suggestions on here. I live in London with teens and haven't done half of these!

starrynight19 · 12/08/2021 17:16

Wow thanks everyone looks like we are going to be very busy Grin
