Must do near Polzeath and spots for SUP

We’re speading a week in a hotel near Polzeath (Greenaway beach) for a week at the end of August.

It’ll be our first time visiting as we live in an other coastal location so tend to stay put over the summer holidays. It’ll be me, DH and DC (8 and 9).

We’re quite an active family so we’re not to fussed about visiting shops etc but can anyone recommend some must do activities? We’ll be bringing SUPs with us but as we’ll have the DC we need to find safer bays to use them. We enjoy beach days swimming, rock pooling etc. The DC are booked in for some surf lessons but that’s all we have so far. We don’t want to drive too far from our hotel if we can help it given the 6 hour journey to get there - 30 mins max. The area looks beautiful so I’ll be bringing my camera too!

If you’re taking bikes then the tracks at Lanhydrock are good for kids that age. Walking the coastal path to Rock from Polzeath to get the ferry to Padstow. And basically water sports!

Cycle the Camel Trail. It’s 18 miles (mainly traffic free on an old railway track). There are plenty of places to stop for refreshments along the way and Wadebridge is a handy half way point to try a Pasty! You can hire bikes from Padstow.

Thank you. We weren’t planning to bring bikes but I’ll look into hiring them - sounds like we’ll get a few days out on them.
