Where to stop for a good lunch near A605 Peterborough

I've worked out we'll be around this area for lunch en route to our holiday. We prefer to avoid Services and instead find a family friendly cafe/pub/garden centre for something to eat. We've found some gems over the years, but this is a new route for us. Has anyone got recommendations for a lovely lunch (with DC) just off the A605 near Peterborough?

Think there is a vintage inn, the cuckoo near there if you don't mind a chain

Just remembered about this place that my sister told me about recently. I've not been been but might be worthy a look and not sure how close it is for you.

Not sure how far from Peterborough you are prepared to travel, but Griffin Inn at Irnham is fabulous

Just off the 605 in Peterborough is a Dobbies with a soft play

The Crown Inn in Elton is nice.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. Looking at them now.

@MinnieMountain I came across The Crown, but couldn't see a children's menu. Do you know if they do one?

As much as I'd like a civilised lunch, soft play could be ideal to work off some energy, so they sleep in the car afterwards!

Brampton Mill, The George in Buckden and the Bridge Hotel in Huntingdon are all great.

The Crown at Elton is lovely, but not sure if they do a children's menu. Maybe give them a ring?

The Black Horse in Elton is also good, and they definitely do a children's menu. There's a nice garden as well.

I agree the Bridge Hotel is lovely but completely unsuitable for young children to run around outside. There's only a couple of tables on a terrace then the car park. Plus it's a long way from the 605.

The Windmill does good food and has a big outdoor play area.

This looks a good option. I'm thinking Dobbies with soft play on our outward journey and The Black Horse on our return.

Many thanks for all suggestions - really helpful.

Would suggest the Windmill too!

The Cuckoo at Alwalton is lovely. Garden outside. Full of character.
If you want to a quick lunch there is a services off the A605 with the usual mcds etc and a kids place area outside.

The Windmill in Orton Waterville has an amazing outside play area.
