Travel with baby and toddler, yes or no?

We have a DC who is gonna be 18 months and another who will be 5 months at the time of our planned trip.

We're planning a trip, traveling by car (so can take plenty of stuff for kids), that is 2.5 hours away, staying in a premier inn for 3 nights.

Has anyone ever done anything similar with kids of similar ages? Any advice?

Are you all staying in one hotel room? I wouldn't take too much stuff for the kids as the rooms aren't that big, particularly if you're going to have at least one travel cot in there.
What's your plan for bedtime in the hotel?
Personally I would stay in a self catering place with kids that age so you can have a fridge for snacks etc and put them to bed in a separate room early evening.

Yeah all in one room, I work for the company so knowwhat we will and won't fit in the room but meant more that we aren't limited to amounts of clothes, food etc for them as can leave in the car if we need too. Was more wondering if people had any advice on the journey or things that are an absolute must have on trips, but thank you for your response! 😁
