Cheapest way to get to Isle of man?

We live in Lancs and would like to take the kids to the Isle of Man as they've never been on a ferry, however I've had a quick look at the Steam Packet and it seems ridiculously expensive, £200 upwards, is this right?
Does anyone have any more idea than I do?

There's a website called directferries where you can play with dates and times but your cheapest is around £190 as foot passengers (assuming two adults two small children). Not much to do...would a day trip be sufficient? And if you want to stay overnight just do taxis? Hope this helps.

Are you taking the car? That’s about right for the summer.

Get on a jetski?

I’m getting £152 foot passengers 5 day return for the 4 of you from Liverpool. Where are you looking?

That’s why it’s called the Steam Racket. You’re not accidentally booking for a race week are you (not the TT as that’s far more expensive!)? You can fly from Liverpool but I don’t know how expensive it would be.

I was hoping someone would mention the jetski! I used to do day trips Holyhead to Dublin getting the 2:15 with a cabin there is and 20:00 back with the kid. A couple hours in the cinema late afternoon for a snooze and a very lazy next day. Do-able with 8-11yo

🤣🤣 Jetski! There are five of us and we wanted to take the car. Dates are not important I tried dates well into September and it was still the same price?

We thought a couple of days just to make a little holiday of it. Would book into a B&B or something I think?

The trouble is your only (realistic 😂) options are the Steam Packet or a flight so they can pretty much charge what they want and they’ll be wanting to make the money back that they lost due to Covid.
