Please help me make a scavenger hunt for our car journey tomorrow - A1 M from Huntingdon to Richmond

What should the kids be looking out for and ticking off as we make our way along the A1? Either things generic to motorways or (even better) things specific to this stretch.

Car rainbow.

They have to spot a car for every colour of the rainbow.

I don't know the road but my mum used to do them for me on generic motorways - things like 5x red car, 3x blue car, car reg starting with A, bridge over the road, a service station, lorry with foreign plate/sticker, dog in a car.

Strangest thing on the back of a lorry (I've seen boats, light aircraft, static caravans... and a steam train)

If you are heading North up to Yorkshire, there's an aircraft statue outside an RAF base right on the A1

Water towers

Count (and log the names on the side of) Eddie Stobart trucks

On that route you may see

• RAF base I've mentioned
• Sherwood Forest
• 'Adult stores' (maybe don't include these!)

-Speed cameras

• air craft taking off over the road at Retford
• fishing lakes
• power station
• Road changes between motorway and duel carriageway

We do a score system,
10 points if you see a van pulling a caravan
50 points if you see a boat
100 points for fairground ride
150 points if you see a plane being pulled.
I’m literally on the road after leaving Huntingdon heading north - the airplane at RAF base,
Big Chimneys are all I can think of.

I think the plane is at RAF Wittering. There are lots of military bases at the Yorkshire end of your trip too so military vehicles are likely.

Ok, there is also a parachute place near Wittering so look up and see if you can see the parachutists above the A1 (start looking at the Sibson Inn).
