Traditional afternoon tea, North Wales

We're going to be staying near Criccieth in August and want to go somewhere fancy for afternoon tea (think Country House Hotel) to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Proper, traditional afternoon tea with sandwiches, a selection of cakes / pastries & scones with clotted cream.

The only place I've found that looks suitable is Bron Eifion but their restaurant is only open to residents due to Covid restrictions.

And then there's the Portmeirion Hotel but I have a feeling we'd have to pay entry into the village for our family of 5 to actually access the hotel.

There are lots of small cafés that do cream teas but I've got my heart set on somewhere lovely where I can dress up & feel a bit special.

We don't want to travel too far so need something within about 30-45 mins drive.

Can anyone help or am I just being too fussy?

If you have reserved a table for our 2 or 3 course lunch, Afternoon Cream Tea or a Spa treatment, you are not required to purchase a entry ticket. Entry is complimentary, with your reservation, please speak to the relevant department when making your booking for more details.

Thank you! I'll look into both of those.

Criccieth has just the place

If you want a stunning location
Llanbedrog has a beach bar, mixed reviews but we have never had an issue

Personally i would do Portmerion and one other, beach if the weathers good Cadwaladers if its not, its only money.
