Highcliffe to Barton on Sea - on foot - hoburne naish

Hi,

We are on holiday in the area soon. Can I walk through the Hoburne Naish site and follow the front to get to Barton? (On Google maps it looks like there might be a small path through - but in reality there may be a fence).

Yes you can, there’s a gate. Along the top only though - the beach at Barton is no good - partly closed and fenced off due to cliff falls.

I don’t believe you can - there is a fence across the path at the west end of Barton on Sea, and on the OS Maps app the SW coast path goes inland at that point. But I have to say I’ve never tried to walk that section.

Thanks guys. It's the top I want to walk....I'm the only driver and it will be nice to book one of the Barton restaurants but quicker to walk there that way (then I can have a glass of wine with my meal). Or even if I'm up earlier than the family I can walk through for a coffee on morning.

We've stayed there before but I thought I was told you couldn't walk through so I'd never tried.

There's a sign on the gate saying that access is for guests of hoburne naish only at Chewton Bunny, near the beach at the Highcliffe end I think.

I think you can but there is a gate and I'm not sure if it's locked. Maybe pop round with the car and check before setting off.

Have Google earthed and the gate looks smaller than I thought to Marine Drive West so I think definitely doable.

Look on google street view and there’s a private gate for Hoburne Naish.

You could call the park and ask.

I used to live on naish as a resident - you can definitely walk through. Have a lovely time!

Thanks all. We do love it....this is our third time. The only problem is I could only afford a week and we have about 2 weeks worth of things we want to do!!! Such a beautiful part of the country with a gorgeous coast.
