Hi, I would like to book a city break for my husband and I for our anniversary. Never been away on our own since having kids so would like it to be abit special /romantic.
Either London or York I'm thinking. Would really appreciate some hotel recommendations please for a special treat. Thank you Smile

going off spec on the city but if you're really pushing the boat out, The Balmoral in Edinburgh.

The Langham in London is lovely.

The Mayfair London - close enough to walk to all the fancy restaurants, has a spa, they do afternoon tea. Just really nice

We just went to York and stayed at The Grand which was lovely. Very central location and great service and delicious breakfast. The other place that was lovely (we went there for a drink in the stunning gardens on a hot day) was Gray’s Court Hotel.

What’s your budget? When are you going and for how many nights? In London I’d suggest The Savoy (the best!), The Langham or the Shangri-La at the Shard for the views.

But those are all pretty expensive… So yes, depends on budget!

Thanks for your suggestions Smile

I really enjoyed both the Corinthia (see episode of Britain's Most Luxurious Hotels on Channel 4) and Charlotte Street Hotel (or others in the Firmdale group) in London.

I think Malmaison has opened a new hotel in York which looks lovely.

Not too far from York, we had a lovely weekend in Harrogate staying at the Hotel du Vin. The hotel was gorgeous and not hugely expensive. There's lots to do including the Turkish Baths and Harlow Carr RHS gardens plus Betty's Tea Rooms and lots of places to eat out.

The Grange Hotel in York is lovely.
