Any suggestions? Grin actually to be honest it doesn't even need to be like CP... basically thinking about booking a holiday for early summer 2022 for me, DH, toddler, and baby. Will possibly also bring various other adults from extended family depending on their interest and accomodation options etc. We have just been to CP Whinfell Forest and had a fantastic time and thinking we might rebook for next year but something cheaper would be good, and also just nice to explore something different. Needs to be within about 2hr drive of Merseyside. Any suggestions? We looked at Ribby Hall but was surprised by how expensive it was going to be Shock.

Only really Ribby Hall but not been for years, have you considered some of the caravan sites?
We found Holgates is good value and more upmarket than Haven etc

A few days out ideas here as most are within a 2 hour drive from Merseyside

Darwin Forest and Kielder Waterside are slightly similar. Wooden lodges, pine forest, indoor pool, soft play, bike hire, cafe, restaurant etc...

Forest holidays have nice lodges but they don't have a pool and the number of activities on site that CP has.
Crieff Hydro or Peebles hydro but they're further.
White cross bay between windermere and Ambleside has lodges and a pool. I think some might have hot tubs.

Beaconhill Farm in Northumberland, has a pool and spa.

Thanks all, will have a good dig into your suggestions. Caravan parks occurred to us the other day and we have been looking at the Parkdean site at Ty Mawr which looks pretty good and a great great deal cheaper than CP Grin.

That Ty Mawr site looks really good. The cost of centre parcs makes me weep!!

NigellaSeed · 22/06/2021 15:38

Second forest holidays

Funf · 23/06/2021 05:37

Ty Mawr is a good base as plenty going on but its only a 5 minute drive from the A 55 so you can easily travel about lots of busy and quiet places nearby

What part of CP appeals most?

If it's the woodland setting try Kielder or Forest Holidays

If it's the option to do activities look at holiday parks such as Haven or Park Dean.

Something in between is The Bay, Filey which has houses rather than lodges but there are sports to sign up to.

I came on to say Holgates in Silverdale too. We love it there and their caravans or luxury Glamping pods are not too expensive.

Look at ‘lodges’ or holiday parks on the Hoseasons site. Also Forest Holidays.

Also, I see Bluestone mention a lot on mn (I’ve never been) which I think may be within your distance limit.

Bluestone

Forest

Hoseasons

Standrewsschool · 23/06/2021 07:17

Sorry, Bluestone is four hours, not two. Sorry!

Sorry to hi jack but pleased to hear recommendations for Forest Holidays, we are booked with them, haven’t had a holiday for two years, really looking forward to a few nights away.
