Day out near Warrington

We are driving up the m6 to Scotland, stopping overnight at Warrington (kids age 14 and 10). We would like to do something in the afternoon on the way to Warrington. Any ideas? The only thing I have found so far is a monkey forest near Stoke on Trent. Thanks

There a new high ropes course at Waltons gardens near Warrington

  • lots of other things to do there.

Also there’s a nerf zone near Gullivers world in Warrington.

I’m thinking of taking my 9 yo to bewilderwood which is in Stoke - on - Trent.

It depends how long you've got and how far off the M6 you want to go. Disclaimer: I have no idea what's actually open at the moment of these.
Tatton Park at Knutsford
Dunham Park
Arley Hall & gardens
Chill Factor indoor ski centre at the Trafford Centre
Trafford Centre for shops / cinema
Jodrell Bank
Walk round Lymm dam
Go Ape at Delamere Forest

I would suggest Walton Hall Gardens too. There's plenty there for an afternoon stretching your legs.

Wouldn't gave thought Walton Gardens would hold the attention of a 14 and 10yr old for very long! It's got a play park, mini golf and a little zoo with Guinea pigs, chickens and a pig but that's about it really.
If they are outdoorsy, I'd take them to Wildshores along the A49 to let them burn off some energy. It's about 30mins from Warrington and has open water swimming, an inflatable assault course in the lake, paddle boarding etc.
A bit further away is Manley Mere, also great for water sports and has a fun assault course.
Delamere has a great visitor centre/cafe and a Go Ape course.
Depending on whereabouts you are staying in Warrington, Stockton Heath has some nice restaurants and Northwich (not far) has a gorgeous cinema built over the river, with a Wildwood pizza place close by.

Its a no brainer.
Manley Mere adventure course or The Crocky trail ( Take clean clothes and a bag for the muddy wet ones!
