Centerparcs alternative near a beach?

We want to take our preschool age children for a beach holiday in the SE or SW but to be near lots of activities in case it's a washout (again, for us). Is there anything similar to centerparcs near the sea you stay in larger accommodation like a lodge? Thank you

Landal Gwel an Mor and Ruda

Bluestone in Pembrokeshire. Lots of activities on site and nearby.

VienneseWhirligig · 08/05/2021 18:05

I was thinking Ruda too, although I'm not sure it's comparable to CP. The pool is ace, and if you book one of the apartments you get access to a private pool and sauna by the beach, but many of the activities are outdoor and might get rained off.

Another vote for Bluestone. Been a few years since we went but was a great location x

At that age haven, butlins or any of the other plethora of sites would work fine. Check the specifications of the individual parks but many have indoor pools, sports facilities even bowling alleys plus large clubhouses which will have a programme for children every morning. Mine loved them, especially the kids disco around 6.30 at most places before bingo (which they also loved, bad mother that I am teaching them gambling Grin£1 a card!)

We are looking south east England or south west only

100% Landal Gwel an Mor. You can book direct or through hoseasons

We went last september and it was great. Had a very Center parcs feel to it and about a 15 min walk to the beach. We drove down as had 2 very young children so was just easier for us with all the stuff to take with us

Potters in Norfolk! Brilliant and right by the sea and fully catered. Loads to do

Ladybigbeach · 08/05/2021 22:09

Kelling Heath Norfolk near Cromer

Paperyfish · 08/05/2021 22:12

Bognor butlins. It’s brilliant! My 8and 6 year old preferred it to centre Parcs. The pools brand new and really clean and well laid out. The chalets are basic but ok...think the hotel looks nicer but then you can’t self cater. It’s right on the beach for paddling and fish and Chips. There’s loads of activities much cheaper than cp. mine loved the climbing wall, fairground and pottery painting.

We booked Bluestones. We usually go to Center Parcs but decided to travel further for the same reason as you.

OhTheTastyNuts · 09/05/2021 08:13

The swimming pool at Bluestone isn't anywhere near as good as CP. Much smaller and much less clean! I personally wouldn't recommend it.

HappyHedgehog247 · 09/05/2021 08:16

It’s not at all similar to CP but a lovely pool and stuff for preschoolers at theoldehouse.co.uk a fam in a fab part of Cornwall

AngelsWithSilverWings · 09/05/2021 08:23

Another recommendation for Kelling Heath near Cromer.

When travel is allowed again Duinrell in Holland is fantastic and close to a beach. Very easy to get to from Harwich too.

Winecheesesleep · 09/05/2021 08:31

It's not as big as CP but Bosinver in Cornwall was great for this kind of holiday. It had a pool, soft play, animal feeding, pony riding. Really nice lodges too.

There were quite a few beaches nearby (although not walking distance I don't think).

Spainintherain · 09/05/2021 15:09

Bosinver looks just what I would love but fully booked all summer!
