Center Parcs, Sherwood or Whinfell

Looking at booking Center Parcs for the Summer. Kids are 13 and 10. We have visited both Sherwood and Whinfell but a long time ago (12 years ago). They are both similar in distance from us. When we last went we didn't do any activities apart from swimming as DS was only a baby. I seem to remember that sherwood was a lot flatter for bikes etc but the accommodation at that time wasn't very nice (dated with mouse droppings Envy). Which would you recommend? Smile

Last went to Sherwood in 2018, and Whinfell in 2016, so things may have changed.
Sherwood is large, lacking in the intimacy and the air of exclusivity that Whinfell seems to have, but we were impressed with the sheer number and quality of the activities, shops and space. The village centre is open at Sherwood, unlike Whinfell, which could be good or bad dependent on the weather. If you eat that the restaurants at Whinfell it feels like you are sitting in a food court at a shopping centre, rather than being in a separate building. We had nice weather when we were at Sherwood and it was lovely to be sat outside in the open air, next to the water, watching the fish and ducks. I suspect that we would have preferred to be under cover should the weather have turned.
The subtropical paradise at Sherwood is great and has better slides, although it looked in need of some general updating to me (it also had a slight smell of wet dog in some areas but in fairness I didn’t hear any other complaints in this regard).
The accommodation (executive lodge) was very nice but again in need of some general updating and was smaller than the same version in Whinfell.
