Best location in the Cotswolds

Looking for somewhere to stay in the Cotswolds, October half term. 2 adults, 2 DCs aged 13 and 15.

Needs to be good for walking, days out, pub/restaurant in walking distance.

Preferably a cottage in a very rural area.

Any ideas?

Bourton-on-the-Water is one of the most special Cotswolds villages but it’s a real tourist honeypot. Castle Combe is slightly less touristy but still has a couple of pubs and some nice walks such as www.countryfile.com/go-outdoors/walks/castle-combe-wiltshire/ It’s also better placed for day trips to Bath and Bristol.

Lower Slaughter and Upper Slaughter. Lovely. Google them.
