(As per everyone else) we are thinking about U.K. holidays. There's a massive area of England and Wales (centred on Herefordshire, but going out to Gloucester, Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons, Shropshire Hills, Worcester, Malvern) to which it would be convenient for us to drive, but which I don't know at all.

Is there anything to do there with kids? 9 and 4. Or is it really a place to go walking? (please, no more walking).

Thanks Five - this is looking viable! (if not this year, then another year). There's the Big Pit at Pontypool which would be on our way, and the Severn Valley railway (which in my head was further east, but actually Kidderminster isn't that far from Hereford).

Our holidays are usually in a city or at the seaside, and we tend to alternate pottering locally days with day trip days. Would Hereford be a nice place to potter?
