Cottage in the Lake District for 13

BIL and MIL have decided to have a shared 40th/70th birthday celebration in the Lake District in May half term next year.

I said I’d help look but I’m struggling to find anywhere suitable.

We need accommodation for 13. Mainly couples but one single and MIL would share a twin with our 8yo (who will be the only child there).

Needs to be within walking distance of a pub and near the start of walks. Nobody wants to drive to start a walk.

A group of cottages would probably be better as we’ll be a mix of people who are quiet and loud.

No particular budget. BIL and MIL are happy to spend a bit more for the right place.

In May 2022? That’s very pessimistic!

Another vote for Lingholm, we normally stay there three times a year. The price seems to have jumped the last couple of years and we keep saying that next time will be our last...but it's just so lovely there.

Who knows @APeakyBlinder and @ceeveebee but this is a thread for looking at lovely cottages, not talking about COVID.

You are a very rude poster tbh
I did provide a link to some lovely cottages. It’s kind of normal to thank people when they bother to reply, not tick them off for responding to another pessimistic poster
Hope you find what you want

We shouldn't really tell people how good the area is :)
Lakes is far too wet for me

Have a look at the cottages at Patterdale Hall.

Also in Glenridding there is a row of cottages which are all holiday lets. Glenridding is small so cottages in the village will be close, and it is brilliant for long and short walks straight from the village, and the Ullswater steamers.
