Nice kid-friendly gastro-pub in North London????

Going up to London for my MIL's birthday in november. Looking for somewhere with cracking food that won't mind my 2.9 yo and 7 mo spraying food around...

Am I asking the impossible? Any recommendations? The food must be really good as MIL is gourmet type...

The Engineer, Primrose Hill, took my 3 year old a while back and they were ok with it...had a lovely meal.

Nice idea - but we'll be in Finchley so might be a bit of a schlep. Nonetheless will suggest it. All other suggestions gratefully received.
