UK holidays with a 1 year old

I have been searching for holiday destinations in the UK suitable for a young couple with a 1 year old but every time seem to hit a brick wall. We love days out exploring new places, eating nice food, maybe a farm park or something similar. We like to stay somewhere which is within walking distance of basic amenities. Open to cottages or holiday parks. We have exhausted the North Yorkshire area. We live near Edinburgh and would be willing to travel up to 4 hours away. This will be the first time we have holidayed with our 1 year old. Does anyone have any suggestions of destinations for us?

You can't go wrong with Haven IMO. But we go to the one in Devon which is probably a bit too far for you!

I love Center Parcs, but admit it's quite expensive. Everything is within walking distance, the accommodation is great, there's lots of restaurants, amazing pool, great activities for kids and adults of all ages. It's one of the only places that I think is suitable for pretty much anyone. You can do as much or as little as you like. I have, in the past, gone with my family and just spent the week wandering round the forest. It was great!

I always think a seaside holiday is nice for little ones. I would have thought there would be lots of nice seaside holiday places on Scotland to save traveling do far.

Northumberland could stay in Bamburgh, Seahouses or Alnwick. Lovely beaches, Alnwick Castle & gardens, Northumberland Zoo. National Trust there is Wallington Hall & Cragside.

Northumberland. Or Butlins Butlins Butlins. I love Butlins. It is great for kids with loads free stuff. However I think they are mostly too far South for you. Craig Tara in Scotland used to be a Butlins so has a great pool etc. Don't know much about it though. Sorry got carried away with my Butlins mania.

Going to reiterate Northumberland. We took DTs when they were around 1 to the Berwick Haven site. Had lots to do on site and beach access. Small village to look around and plenty of walks. Lots of places to travel to. We put them in backpack carriers and walked miles

What about North Wales?
Loads to see and do, its quite compact too so the Beach and the mountains are not far apart. All the usual sea side stuff but plenty of other attractions
Liverpool is also a good destination, nice city, Parks, Safari Park, Chester and its Zoo?

Drive over to NI. Stay at the North coast & loads of things to do & see without stress

Northumberland or the Lakes. We took DS there when he had just turned one and it was great. We went to the Beatrix Potter museum, on a boat, fed 10 million ducks. He loved it.

Have you tried Beamish yet? Although it might be better when the little one is older x

Unfortunately Beamish is pretty pointless at the moment as all the buildings are closed. Obviously this will hopefully be better by summer

Crieff Hydro is always lovely, we stay every year and have being going since the dc were small.

Some beautiful beaches in Scotland, but, if you want to come to England, Northumbria has beautiful coastline as well as Yorkshire.
