Outdoor activities worth a day out in the rain?

We have a rare day booked off during half term and heavy rain is forecast. DCs are 11 and 15, and I have been shielding so we don't want to go into an indoor space of any kind.

Is there anything we can do which might be slightly sheltered from the weather but isn't indoors? So far I can only think of trainspotting under a station platform canopy which isn't really much of a pull for anyone teenagers.

Alternatively, we could put on waterproofs and go regardless on a walk or open air monument. But it would need to be a bit more interesting than the walks we do routinely just for exercise, so is there somewhere really good we could head for?

In normal times we like museums, city trips, transport, bookshops etc.

We are in the Berks/Oxon area and would need to get there and back in the day

Thank you everyone. I would love to go to an open air museum. I've googled them all and Avoncroft would be ideal. Chiltern open air is nearer but won't be open the day we want to go

Take wellies! The paths are fine but the car park can get muddy.
