We had a few days in Wales planned for DH, DS (young adult) and I to go away, but now that's off.

Where else could we go? It's not in Oct half term, just before.
I like coast.
DH likes countryside.
DS likes castles.

I was wondering perhaps Devon?

Orford in Suffolk. Ticks all three boxes. Stop en route from London at Colchester castle.
Corfe Castle in Dorset. Again, ticks all three boxes.
Deal in Kent. It’s not as rural as above, but it’s handy for Walmer Castle, Dover Castle, and I’d recommend Kearsney Abbey too.

Ooh thanks - will look those up. We've done Dover Castle not too long ago, but will look up the others.

Dorset would be fab.

Corfe Castle

Lovely coastline

Beautiful countryside with rolling green hills

Kent has lots of all these features and right by London.

Another vote for Dorset around Corfe Castle.

I'd usually recommend Northumberland coast instead, worth the extra travel time from London imo, but obv not low Covid!

Devon has lower Covid if you avoid Plymouth and Exeter. Powderham Castle mice. Also Cornwall lovely.

East Sussex - Rye / Hastings area. Quite a few castles around there (Bodiam Castle is nice) and has access to coast & countryside
