50th birthday meal and overnight stay

I'm looking for a recommendation on a hotel with excellent restaurant in South East, around £500 for dH and me. My 50th birthday is just before Xmas. I was going to have a party but don't think it'll be possible or permitted. I did fancy the Manoir aux Quat Saisins but it'll be over 1k and that's just too much.

I'm in Surrey, so Kent, Hampshire, Dorset, Sussex, preferably not London

Coworth Park near Ascot. Or one of The Pig hotels - the food there is incredible.

We've stayed here before - it was lovely, but it was a few years ago so you'd need to check current reviews! We swam in the outdoor pool a few days before Christmas.

Could you do Norfolk? Morston Hall is really nice.

I can recommend Yalbury Cottage near Dorset. Food is really fab, although the rooms are more basic.

Clivedon House in Maidenhead would be a sumptuous treat.

South Lodge and baillifscourt both in Sussex both with spas and good restaurants or penyhill Park (Surrey) . Have fun wherever you do decide to go!
