We are travelling to Cornwall down M5 on friday and it will take over 5 hours! Have dd age 4 with us. Would really LOVE to know a place that would be nice for us all to stop at to eat/dd to play a bit that isn't too far from route. Maybe a pub near a park or something? Really don't want to have to use service station!

Depends where on M5 you are travelling from?

Just off Junction 22 (Burnham on Sea) you have Sanders Garden World - its a garden centre with a large play area (based on a pirate ship) and the food is lovely. Literally 5 mins off the junction so not too far off your route.

Hope you havea fab hol

Drewe Arms off junction 28 at Broadhembury. Lovely garden if weather is good. Village very nice for a little wander about - church and stream and playground for kids.

Darts farm near junction 30 - follow signs to exmouth, then turn right roundabout towards topsham. Cafe and good fish and chips - brilliant place to browse - farm shop/gift shop/toy shop/cotswoldoutdoor etc etc. Few kiddie things to play with too.

also there is a lovely lovely park in Okehampton (simmons park) with a short river walk with ponds and an excellent park.

Have returned now after a fantastic weekend- prize goes to chipstick- we stopped at Sanders garden world on the way there and the way back, dd loved the pirate ship, we loved the fresh donuts and big roast dinners!! And there were fish/snakes/guinea pigs to look at too! Very very easy to get to from junction 22 M5. Thanks so much x
