Lake windermere and area must dos!!

Heading to the lakes for Oct holidays.

Kids are 8 and 10 and quite active. Whats you favorite activities, walks or places to visit.

Any good National Trust places in the area.

Someone suggested a safari park place but they can't remember the name. You walk about the whole place and there is a picnic area or cafe at giraffe head height perhaps. Any ideas.
